Upcoming Closures on SR 134 in Pasadena
Caltrans announced closures on SR 134 will commence as soon as Monday evening April 10, 2023 for at least through the end of month. Please see the following press release for details. We recommend that residents avoid this area during the closures. The La Loma and Colorado street bridges are alternative routes to cross the Arroyo Seco.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Upcoming Closures on SR 134 in Pasadena PASADENA ― The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin night-time work on the State Route 134 (SR 134) bridge over Arroyo Seco Natural Park in Pasadena as soon as Monday, April 10. The work will take place overnight on Monday through early Saturday morning each week for at least through the end of the month. During this work, up to three lanes on eastbound SR 134 will close intermittently.

In addition, there will be temporary closures of the eastbound SR 134 on-ramp from North San Rafael Avenue and the off-ramp from eastbound SR 134 to Orange Grove Boulevard. These nighttime closures will allow crews to safely install an inspection platform on the eastbound portion of the bridge. Night work on the westbound portion will take place at a later date. 

Upcoming closures include:Up to three lanes of eastbound SR 134 between North San Rafael Avenue and Orange Grove BoulevardMonday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following dayFriday from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following dayThe eastbound SR 134 on-ramp from North San Rafael AvenueMonday through Friday as soon as 7 p.m. and reopening by 6 a.m. the following dayThe eastbound SR 134 off-ramp to Orange Grove BoulevardMonday through Thursday as soon as 9 p.m. and reopening by 6 a.m. the following dayFriday as soon as 9 p.m. and reopening by 8 a.m. the following day This work is being done as part of a bridge barrier upgrade project, which will enhance safety to meet state standards.

Caltrans asks motorists to please avoid the area and use an alternate route during these closures. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
